Songwriters Philippines

Started in 2008 by former Katha members upon its demise, Songwriters Philippines was formed to help all the amateur songwriters to hone their skills and to learn the know hows through its workshops being conducted by professional songwriters. In showcasing their talents, the group has organized an event called Songwriters Night, first held at 9Mile Bar, with the songwriters performing their own works while others who can’t have brought in interpreters to perform their songs.

From then on, Songwriters Night got a home in Conspiracy Cafe. The event is held every third Monday of the month, a laid back acoustical jam session set-up featuring talented amateur singer/songwriters. Some well renowned artists from other parts of the country had dropped by and had performed there also. With its kind of setting, it’s like an MTV Unplugged meets VH1 Storytellers kind of thing, with performers doing their originals in acoustic format and telling the audiences what inspired them to write that song and what it’s all about.

music Radio Pilipinas website

Philippines’ pioneer internet radio, Radio Pilipinas basically plays the not your usual stuffs heard everyday on your local fm stations. Focusing more on the Independent Music scene here in the Philippines, it gives the chance to all these upcoming talents to be heard, emerge and be at par with the mainstream acts.

The site has a 24 hour broadcast schedule, with cool djs on board to play all your requests. It has a cool lay-out too, particularly the header which reminds me of the colorful designs of patok jeepneys here. Great work Kuya Kurt!

It’s also interactive, there’s a chat room located in the middle part, wherein you can chat with the online visitors and djs too. Not on the site but want to chat with the people there? Check out its meebo room.

News and events meanwhile are located on the lower part for gig updates and independent album releases.

Kudos to all the minds behind this cool site!! Wasakenrol!! m/
