Another legend has passed away. The master and pioneer of surf-rock guitar, Dick Dale died at age 81 as reported by CNN.
Dick Dale was one of those guitarists with a distinct and original sound. You would know it’s him playing even if you only hear it by ear. He was a big influence when it comes to the surf-guitar style, the fast trills and that thick sound, he’s simply the master of it.
Here’s a tune that you may very well be familiar with, the title is “Misirlou” which was also used in the Quentin Tarantino film Pulp Fiction.
