A Taste Of Japanese Wine Called Sake

a bottle of Sake, Japanese wine

Have a shot of Sake! It’s an alcoholic beverage made from Japan which my friend took out. Fresh from the box and was still sealed, we had it opened and tried it. First time to have a shot of this type and the taste was fine, it was smooth and not that strong, but once inside your system, woooh, it’s hot.

Sake is made just like the brewing process on how beer is made, but the brewing differs. In beer, the  conversion of starch to sugar and sugar to alcohol occurs in two discrete steps but with sake they occur simultaneously. An undiluted sake is 18–20% alcohol,  but is often lowered to around 15% by diluting the sake with water prior to bottling.

A Bottle of Basi

Hanging out one time at Genre in Cubao Shoe X, our friend handed us this wine called Basi. It’s made up of sugarcane and is a local wine from Ilocos. Tasted like a red wine but a little stronger. Hmm maybe because it’s been stocked for a very long time. Anyway, after a few sips, small talks with friends and watching some bands play, we were able to finish it off. Whoah, that was fast!
