Pearl Jam Inducted to the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

One of the most prominent and influential rock band in the 90’s, Pearl Jam is inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last 7th of April 2017 by David Letterman. The former Late Show host shared a very touching speech about the band, on how he met them to their involvement in social issues. Letterman replaced Neil Young, who’s unable to induct the band due to health issues.

The Seattle band rose to fame after their ground-breaking debut album “Ten” sold millions of copies worldwide. Followed by a successful sophomore album “Vs.” and their fight against Ticketmaster, they’ve gained more fans around the world. The members inducted were drummers Dave Krusen (from Ten album), Matt Cameron, guitarists Stone Gossard and Mike McCready, bassist Jeff Ament and singer Eddie Vedder that drew the ire of the other fans for not including former drummer Dave Abbruzzese in the list. The Hall meanwhile clarified in their statement that they’re the ones who named who will be included, leading to some debate that past members with significant contributions should be included also. The band posted a tweet inviting all the drummers who played with them during the course of their career but apparently Dave A still has some personal issues to settle as he posted a statement regarding his snub in the event.

Here’s a Youtube video shared by Guillermo Gorza for those who have missed the event.

Temple of the Dog Reunites at Pearl Jam 20

Pearl Jam, one of the most important bands that emerged in the 90s, is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. The Seattle based group also has a film coming out by Cameron Crowe documenting their 20 years as a band. Whoah! 20 long years! That’s a great achievement if you’re in a band, ’cause often times, a group disbands after just a few years. There are only quite a few groups that I know who are still intact for 20 or more years and I’ve never thought this group would reach this milestone ’cause most of their contemporaries have disbanded already, or may have disbanded for quite some time and then regrouped again for a tour. I’m a hardcore fan of them so looking forward to see PJ20 concert even just on Youtube.

Upon reading the news about their big plans to celebrate their anniversary a few years back, I was thinking of a Temple of the Dog reunion to be included on those tours since the core of that group comprised of the current band’s line-up sans Chris Cornell. And since Cornell is friends with the band and Matt’s been drumming for both PJam and Soundgarden, which had just reunited and did some touring earlier, why not include a TOTD setlist.

This freaked me out when I saw a TOTD performance at PJam’s 20th anniv show at Youtube. Thought it was just the song Hunger Strike ’cause they’ve done it before when they’ve guested Cornell, but they performed more than one even doing a Mother Love Bone song.

Felt like I was moved back in time to the good ol’ glory days of grunge era, got me goosebumps while watching the vids. Their rockin’ performance got me thrilled ’cause it’s what I’ve been waiting for and they just did it! Hope I was there on the show, anyway I just hope they include the Philippines in their upcoming tour dates ’cause there are many PJam fans out here and hey it’s been more than a decade when the guys had a concert here. As for the TOTD setlist, this was the highlight of the show!!! Fans of this super group would enjoy watching these vids… Many thanks to the one who took the HD vids and uploaded ’em on Youtube, you rock man! Those were awesome! It did my day great! \m/.
